Patxi Aizpiri Mugica
Patxi Aizpiri has won many awards for his solo work and as a member of Dúo Ad Libitum, partnered with violinist Catalin Bucataru.
He has worked with different Maestros, including Ricardo Mutti, Claudio Abbado, Loorin Maazel, Jesús López Cobos, Victor Pablo Pérez and Corrado Rovaris. As an accompanying pianist, he works with several instrumental and vocal performers (Ainhoa Arteta, Sara Matarranz, Asier Polo, Catalin Bucataru, Adolfo Gutiérrez, Gabriel Ureña, etc.)
He was the Deputy Manager and Pianist of the Donostiarra Choral Society (1995-2006), Conductor of the Aita Garayoa and San Ignacio Choirs in San Sebastian. He taught Repertoire at Musikene (Conservatoire of the Basque Country) from its foundation until 2011. He was a specialist-subject teacher at the Oviedo Conservatoire (2007-2010) (2012-2013). Conductor of the Oviedo Opera Choir, and pianist and musical director for the Oviedo Opera (2005-2015). Member of the judging panel for the ‘Ciudad de Logroño’ International Singing Competition (2015, 2016). Teacher at the Escuela Superior de Canto in Madrid ( 2017).
Since 2012 he has been a member of staff at the International Music School belonging to the Princess of Asturias Foundation. As a pianist he has participated in every ‘Luis Mariano’ International Singing Competition in Irun. He currently teaches Repertoire at the Real Conservatorio de Música (Royal Conservatoire).
Itziar Barredo is a pianist from Bilbao who specialises in the vocal repertoire. She has been a répétiteur and internal coach for over forty operatic works at both the ABAO (Bilbao Association of Friends of the Opera) and during the Seville, Madrid, Barcelona and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria opera seasons. She has also been the official pianist at the National Musical Youth Singing Competition, the 'Pedro Unanue' International Singing Competition in Bilbao, the 'Julián Gayarre' International Singing Competition in Pamplona and the 'City of Logroño' International Singing Competition, as well as on diverse courses and master-classes given by maestros such as Jaume Aragall, Teresa Berganza, Carlos Chausson, Ana Luisa Chova, Aquiles Machado, Gianni Mastino, Isabel Rey and Ana María Sánchez (singing). For over a decade she was the pianist for the Bizkaia Musical Springs Festival, organised by A.M.A.K. (Alfredo Kraus Musical Association), right up until its very last year. Outside Spain, she has given concerts with many different singers in Germany, France, Italy, Greece and Poland, as well as further afield in Uruguay, North Carolina and Pennsylvania.
She has brought out four albums: 'Cantar del alma', in conjunction with the bass baritone Fernando Latorre; 'Bihotzeko Amalur', with the soprano Ainhoa Garmendia and the cellist Pello Ramirez; 'Playing Opera', with the trumpet soloist at the Bilbao Symphony Orchestra, Vicente Olmos (this album recently won the Silver Medal at the California Global Music Awards); and a fourth one featuring only those works composed solely for piano by the Basque composer Jesús Kerexeta.
In the educational field, she directed the Singing Department and taught Repertoire at Musikene (the Basque Country), was both Director and Pianist on several courses within the Art and Culture Gatherings organised by the University of the Basque Country and was Educational Director at the Zumaia International Music Festival. She currently teaches Repertoire at the Juan Crisóstomo Arriaga Conservatory in Bilbao and at the Basque Country Advanced School of Music, Musikene.
